June 29th at the Spiral

It Started with a Stick
The scene is etched into my memory for good.

June 29th, 2025, we all gathered on a warm, sunny day, at the Spiral Labyrinth which was made for us, by the Eco-Land Art Project. Sunbathers sat on the edge of the spiral while others sought shade from the sun under the tent and along the edge of the woods. I love the way the trellis, built by my grandfather, and a bundle of phragmites, accentuated its threshold. The dress form was suited for the outdoors. The spiral is a fascinating form because it moves and transfers energy. The field of energy that the spiral provides and that we gave to it that day was powerful. It’s an energetic space. In my opinion, it’s also the perfect runway.

We took in a fashion show of models walking out of the woods and onto a stone path that replicates nature’s geometry. We witnessed them wrapped in nature while listening to stories unfold about the beauty and dynamism of their materials and how they were created. As the models walked inward with each continuous circling to the center of the spiral, we did too, figuratively.

I can’t tell you how much that means to me. Your willingness to go inward with me was remarkable. I can only hope every audience holds the space as you do. Thank you for honoring the work. Wrapped in Nature is an invitation to rekindle our innate connection with the natural world. It presents a thoughtful and conscious experience that I hope gets carried away in morsels and is pondered, remembered & shared… and that it bears repeating and being witnessed over and over again.

To go out on a limb and follow a dream is daunting to say the least, but it is in this space of “not knowing exactly what’s going to happen,” where creativity resides. When we don’t know, there is room to discover. This journey so far has been miraculous. Stick with me. Remember, “It Started With a Stick.”
